Fun Day Yesterday!

We headed out bright and early yesterday morning to buy bicycle helmets for the children that didn't already have one, then on to the park we went, where there was an anniversary celebration for the local bike trail.
Upon arriving at the park, “5.B.6″ was disappointed to discover he had a hole in his tire and couldn't ride. He forgot about his plight once he found the table where chocolate cake was being handed out!
All of the children enjoyed feasting on cake, then they were off to explore the booths, where they received all kinds of goodies — free books, LED flashing lights, key chains, t-shirts, police stickers and trading cards, pencils, maps, fire hats, etc. They also had a chance to visit with Sparky the fire dog, as well as a clown named P. Nutt who was making balloon animals (and of course, balloon swords for the boys).
After stocking up on goodies, the children enjoyed playing on the inflatable amusement rides, and six of them rode in a bike “parade” (riding their bikes in a circle in the parking lot). Also in the parade was a man riding an old-fashioned bicycle from the 18oos!
After arriving home for a late lunch, everyone played outside in the GORGEOUS weather until supper time, then we all gathered to walk to another local park where the symphony was playing. At the end of the concert, we were presented with a front row view of a brilliant fireworks display.
The weather is just AMAZING! The Florida summers are well worth enduring in order to experience the delightful cooler seasons!
