I Can’t Say It Enough

Point taken?

My computer essentially IS my brain. I am one of these list-maker, super-organized types of gal. I used to have to store lists in notebooks, on clipboards, in a planner, etc. Now they are all on my handy dandy laptop.

My computer holds our chore lists, Christmas lists, lesson plans and all of my homeschool records, all of our photographs since we went digital in 2003, our recipes, our menu…you name it.

It has become our dictionary, our phone book, our thesaurus, our encyclopedia set…my thought catcher — you get the idea. Basically, every thing I want or need to know, I look up. It is my source of entertainment and holds all of my friends.

And because of Microsoft (specifically Internet Explorer) my world has been broken into. I feel like I have been robbed. I don’t have a virus (thank you, Norton), but some sort of horrible adware was downloaded onto my computer through IE, and I CAN’T GET RID OF IT! I have run ad-aware several times and it seems to find and delete these items, but every time I reboot the computer, there they are again.

Even though I no longer USE IE, I still have ads popping up in IE windows. I even tried UNINSTALLING IE, but it is still there. Grrrr! How did this all happen? Because ONE DAY I used Internet Explorer. JUST ONE DAY! I have been using Firefox for over a year, and Avant before that. I haven’t had any trouble. Then one day last week, I used IE to look at a couple of graphics sites that wouldn’t load in Firefox.

Now, not only am I getting pop-ups, but some programs keep trying to install without my permission, and every time I shut the computer, it comes back up claiming to have just “recovered from a serious error”.

I am angry that Microsoft is messing with my world!

Anyone who reads this, PLEASE take my advice. If you haven’t already, download Firefox now! Then never open another Explorer browser as long as you live. It just isn’t worth it.
