Preschool On-the-Go Activity Bag

Dee has a new pink travel purse…and she’s pretty proud of it!

I found it in with the scrapbooking supplies at Big Lots for  around $8 and re-purposed it to be an on-the-go activity purse for my sweet, active “baby” girl to keep her entertained while in the car this summer.

Preschool Activity Bag - Closed

Because the bag was designed to be used for sorting and organizing scrapbooking supplies, it has all kinds of cute little compartments to fill up, as well as one outside pocket. The two long, zippered compartments inside the front cover, and two shorter zippered compartments inside the back cover are attached with velcro (convenient!) In the center are three ziploc-type clear plastic sleeves.

The possibilities of contents to fill it with for entertaining little ones is limitless, and easy to change as often as desired to keep things interesting.

We chose:

Preschool Activity Bag

Long zippered pockets – 1. colored pipe cleaners (cut to fit) and 2. pony beads in matching colors.

Used together, these are great for:
color matching, patterning, sequencing, fine motor skills (placing beads onto pipe cleaners), etc.

Used apart, the pipe cleaners can be used to make different shapes, letters, animals…
And the pony beads are good for sorting and counting.

Plastic Sleeve #1 – 3. Cut-up plastic straw beads + 4. plastic craft lace

I pre-cut the lacing into convenient sizes for making necklaces and bracelets.
Again, in addition to the creativity of “jewelry” making and practicing fine motor skills,
these are great for patterning/sequencing and sorting.
And the plastic lace can also be used with the pony beads.

Plastic Sleeve #2 – 5. Small Spiral Notebook & 6. Colored Pencils

In our case, a princess notebook that Dee herself picked out, of course! And chunky,
easy-to-hold, toddler sized colored pencils. My girl LOVES to color, draw, and “write”!

Preschool Activity Bag

Plastic Sleeve #3 – 7 & 8. Laminated Monkey Activities!

Dee still loves the laminated monkey with the different velcro hats leftover from our
Caps for Sale/Monkeys study. So I included those as well as the monkeys,
tree, and crocodile from the 5 Little Monkeys Poem.

Back Cover – 9. Pencils!

There are notches inside the back cover that are perfect for holding
ink pens or pencils to go with Dee’s little spiral notebook.

*I left the two smaller zippered compartments empty for now so that Dee can use
them for sorting activities or fill them with her own little treasures of her choice.
