Saturday was an amazing day, weather-wise (the last several days have been), so we decided to head to the beach on Saturday, and hook up with my dad and his girlfriend.
We brought one of the boys’ friends with us, and got down to Treasure Island at about 1:00pm. We hadn’t been there ten minutes when the children found a sea urchin.
Guess who Grandpa’s favorite is?
Curly-Top and Rey loved playing in the sand. (I wonder if Rey realized that the cup was meant to be used for our drinking water).
The older boys passed their time digging very large holes…
…resting in them…
…having seaweed fights…
…and burying their little brother in the sand.
Rey was at first fascinated by the sea gulls…
…then remembered that sea gulls are for chasing.
He also really enjoyed playing in the big hole.
Rob took several of the kids to the bathroom, and came back with a kite from the concession stand. Talk about perfect kite-flying weather!
Even little Rey tried his hand at it.
When the little girls found out it was Miss Linda’s birthday, they decided to make her some “ice cream” — the high fiber kind.
Before Grandpa & Miss Linda headed back to their motel room, Linda took a group shot of the rest of us with Grandpa.
Then we filled in the big hole, gathered our things up, and headed to the playground until sunset.
The following day, Grandpa and Miss Linda stopped by our house to have lunch with us on their way back to Indiana. We then presented Miss Linda with a real cake and ice cream. A little tastier than the little girls’ sand creations.
