Thanksgiving

It is that time of year again! There is a crispness in the air (yes, even here in Florida where the Lord brought temperatures in the 50s today). Perfect weather for lighting the Pumpkin scented Yankee candle and sipping hot cocoa while planning our Thanksgiving menu.

But what is the best thing about Thanksgiving? On the tops of most lists would be the turkey, the scrumptious desserts, the parades or football games. On the top of my list, however, is the reminder to be thankful to our Creator for all that He has done for us.

As Christians, we should be thankful always. After all, we are commanded to be!

Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God

The Bible tells us to give thanks in prayer for every thing. But how often are we, really? I mean we KNOW that all things come from God, but how often do we get caught up in the whole day to day and forget to reflect on our true blessings? You know I am guilty. You have seen it in my blog just in the past week – focusing on the have-nots.

I am thrilled that in America there IS a day specifically set aside for us to turn our focus back where it really belongs — God.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends near and far and may God continue to bless you!
